Irish step-dancing, a folk form that has been in existence since the 1500s, has seen a huge surge in popularity since the debut of "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance" more than ten years ago. Fedelmia Mullan Davis, a native of Derry City in Northern Ireland, and a popular and successful teacher of Irish dancing in Northern New Jersey, is Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Irish Dancing Teachers Association of North America, and is also Director of the Davis Academy of Irish Dancing, which has classes in various North Jersey locations, including East Brunswick, Hillsborough, Manville, Nutley, and East Hanover.
Jaimie Lynn Crowley, T.C.R.G.
Jaime Lynn Crowley began her dancing career with the Davis Academy of Irish Dancing at the young age of four. During her competitive years, Jaime Lynn traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, England and Scotland to compete in Regional, North American, All-Ireland and World Championships. Her love for Irish Step Dancing and her Irish culture in general, combined with her motivation and determination to succeed, led Jaime to become a three-time North American Champion and six-time Regional Oireachtas champion in her age group. During her travels overseas, Jaime earned top five and top ten placings at the All-Ireland and World championships for many years.
In addition to the competitive side of Irish Dancing, Jaime Lynn was heavily involved in performances throughout the tri-state area, including Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, PNC Bank Arts Center, Shea Stadium for Mets Irish Night and Hershey Park
While competing, Jaime Lynn worked along side Fedelmia Davis, T.C.R.G and A.D.C.R.G, as a student teacher in the Davis Academy dancers, teaching students from Beginner to Championship level. At the end of 2004, Jaime completed her competitive Irish Dancing career with her 6th Mid-Atlantic Regional Oireachtas title and began to prepare for the T.C.R.G exam the following fall. In September 2005, Jaime Lynn became a certified T.C.R.G and currently teaches 3-4 classes a week at the Davis Academy. In addition, Jaime is pursuing a Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing Career at Hoffman La-Roche, Nutley, NJ.
"I know what it is like to want something so badly that you will work your heart out for it…and there is really nothing more rewarding than seeing your students reach their goals. It brings true meaning to 'When Irish eyes are smiling…'."
Timothy Kochka, T.C.R.G. Timothy Kochka started dancing at the Davis Academy of Irish Dance when he was thirteen years old. He has the distinction of winning the World Irish Dance Championships two times; 2002 Glasgow, Scotland and 2004 Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has won the All Ireland Championships three times; 2001 Ennis, 2002 Killarney, and 2004 Ennis. In addition, Tim holds three North American Championship titles; 2001 2002, and 2003, a Great Britain Championship title, 2001, and has won the prestigious NAFC Senior Belt in 2001. During his time touring, he traveled all across North America and to the Far East where he toured Japan and Taiwan. Tim was then offered a position with a new musical, The Pirate Queen, based on the legendary life of the Irish chieftain Grace O'Malley. Working along with his teacher, Fedelmia Mullan Davis, T.C.R.G., A.D.C.R.G., Tim passed his T.C.R.G. examination in the Fall of 2005 and currently teaches the beginner through advance level classes.
